How Did We Impact Our Community in 2021

2021 was a challenging yet productive year for so many. We experienced the first wave of vaccinations and subsequent relief from the impact of COVID-19 and saw many in our communities return to some semblance of normal activity.  Through it all, we have encouraged safety and social responsibility while continuing to perform work that is aligned with our mission in the areas of community collaborations, reintegration and  education.  Fruits of the Family Table is grateful for your participation and support throughout the year!  Here’s how we have made a difference:

June – October 2021

Crafting Sundays

We launched Crafting Sundays which used arts and craft projects to increase socialization, self-expression, collaboration, cultural awareness, and creativity in the lives of children (ages 6 thru 12) in the Highland Park Upper Darby community as the world continued to recover from COVID-19. This program was highly attended and ran from June through October.

September 2021

Movie In The Park

We hosted our first community movie in the park night in the Upper Darby Community.

November-December 2021

Repurposed Project

We launched the Repurposed Project was a 10-day project in which we combined rehabbing/upcycling furniture with trauma informed interventions with young adults between the ages of 18 and 24. The project took place from November 29th through December 10th, 8:30 am to 1:30 pm. We are currently in our 6 months of case management follow-up for those that participated. Our overall objective was to create a safe space for everyone interested in repurposing furniture, while also refining new purposes for life. This program was a result of Fruits of the Family Table being awarded a Targeted Community Investment Grant by the City of Philadelphia.
